Give your agent a WhatsApp number Opereo provides - link your phone in a minute, add teammates' phones, or bring your own number.
Overview
Every agent can have a WhatsApp number. Opereo provides the number and runs the connection, so there's no WhatsApp Business account to set up and no keys to paste. Link a phone by texting a short code, and from then on that phone talks to that agent.
What you can do
Reach your agent from your pocket — send it a task, get the Monday report, approve a draft — with the same identity and memory it has in the app.
Before you start
- An agent whose workspace has finished setting up.
- A phone with WhatsApp installed.
Link your phone
Open the agent's settings → channels. Under Ready to use, click Set up on the WhatsApp row (or Give it a phone on the setup checklist).
Click Link a phone. The Link a phone dialog shows a short code and the number to send it to.
On the phone that should talk to the agent, either click Open in WhatsApp (if you're reading this on that phone), or open WhatsApp yourself and text the code to the number shown. You can also copy the link and send it to yourself.
Within a few seconds the phone appears in the panel's linked list with the date it was linked. You're connected.
Codes expire after a short while and the dialog quietly fetches a fresh one, so don't worry if you were slow — just use the code currently shown.
Use it
Send the agent a message on WhatsApp like you would in the app. It can send and receive text and media, react, show a typing indicator, and ask you to choose with buttons or a list — so approvals work from your phone. Replies arrive as whole messages rather than streaming in.
Messages from WhatsApp share the agent's identity and memory. An automation can also deliver its results to a linked phone: pick the phone under Send to.
Opereo's current messaging defaults keep replies focused on your task. Scheduled results arrive without internal job IDs or management footers, and background maintenance and tool-activity notices are hidden. Brief progress updates, questions, approvals, and failure messages remain available. New, duplicated, and restored agents receive these defaults; existing agents receive them when support applies the settings update. Duplicating an agent leaves the original running with its existing settings. If duplication asks for a workspace update, ask your administrator to update it before retrying.
The channel update also removes the automatic home-channel setup reminder. Once support deploys it, it applies to new and existing agents without changing where your automations send their results.
Voice messages
Send a voice note and the agent reads what you said, in the language you spoke, and answers it like any other message. While it's listening you'll see the typing indicator; a long recording can take a little longer than a typed message. Voice notes can be up to five minutes. If a recording can't be understood or processed, the agent asks you once to send it again or type it out. Ask explicitly when you want the agent to repeat, rewrite or translate what you said.
Link more phones
Click Link a phone again for each teammate. Each phone gets its own code, and each is listed separately. A phone can only be linked to one agent at a time; texting a new code moves it to another agent.
Remove a phone
Hover a phone in the linked list and click the remove icon, then Remove. Messages from that phone stop reaching the agent. It can link again later with a new code.
Numbers and lines
By default the agent uses a number Provided by Opereo. The Active line menu at the top of the panel shows every number available to this agent and which one is in use.
Bring your own number
If you already have a WhatsApp Business number on Kapso, you can use it instead of the provided one.
Open Active line → Add a number….
Enter the Phone number ID (in the Kapso dashboard under Phone numbers, the Meta phone number ID) and your Kapso API key (under API keys). Opereo stores the key only to send and receive on this number.
Click Add number. Opereo sets up the webhook on the number for you.
Pick the new number under Active line and confirm Use this number. Link codes for this agent now point to it; the agent restarts for a moment.
Switching the active line changes which number new link codes use. Phones already linked stay linked.
