Chat
Talk to your agents in the app - conversations, history, attachments, dictation, and the two ways to view a department.
Overview
Chat is where you work with an agent day to day: ask for a summary, a draft, a plan, or a piece of research, and review what comes back. Every conversation is kept per agent, so you can pick up where you left off.
What you can do
Talk to any agent like a colleague, attach files, dictate instead of typing, switch its model mid-conversation, and search everything it has ever said.
Open a conversation
There are two ways to see a department, switchable from the Canvas | Chat control at the top of the sidebar.
Every agent is a card. Click a card to open its chat in a side panel; click the gear on the card to open its settings instead. Drag cards to arrange the department however you like — positions are saved.
Either way, you can also click an agent's name under its workspace in the sidebar to open it.
Send a message
Type into Ask anything… and press Enter. The reply streams in as the agent writes it. When the agent uses a tool — reads a file, searches the web, acts in a connected app — the step is shown inline so you can see what it did.
A fresh conversation shows a few conversation starters and chips for the agent's Integrations, Channels, and Automations, so you can connect an app or check a schedule without leaving the chat.
Attach a file
Click the paperclip (Attach a file) to add files from your department's Files or from your computer. Up to five files per message, 100 MB each. Agents only see a file when it's attached to a message.
Attached images and documents stay with their messages when you reopen a conversation. Click an image to preview it, or use the attachment's download button. Deleted files remain marked as unavailable.
Files the agent gives you
Finished files show up as cards in the reply, with a short Saving to Files… state while they copy over. See Files your agent hands you.
Dictate instead of typing
Click the microphone (Dictate prompt) and speak. Click again to finish; your words appear in the composer for you to review and edit before sending. Dictation is included with Opereo and doesn't use your AI plan.
If your browser can't record audio, the microphone is disabled with a note explaining why. You can always type.
Switch the model
The model pill next to the composer shows which AI the agent is currently thinking with. Click it to switch — heavier for hard work, lighter for quick replies — or to connect a provider you haven't connected yet. See Models.
Work with replies
Hover a reply to Copy it or Regenerate response. Hover one of your own messages to Edit it and re-send; the agent answers again from that point.
History
Each agent keeps every conversation. In the chat header:
- New chat starts a fresh conversation. The old one stays in history.
- Chat history lists past conversations. Use Search chats to find one by what was said.
In Chat view, the same history sits under each agent's name in the left column.
Scroll within the conversation to read older messages while keeping the composer visible. Jump to latest returns you to the newest reply. The team and history column scrolls separately.
Conversations started on WhatsApp or another channel belong to the same agent and share its memory, but they appear in that channel rather than in the app's history.
Chat with more than one agent
Each department can have several agents, and each keeps its own conversations. Open Chat view to move between them quickly, or use Discover (⌘K) from anywhere to jump to an agent by name.
