Other channels
Connect Slack, Discord, email, Signal, Mattermost, Matrix and other platforms you already use, with the keys from your own account.
Overview
Beyond WhatsApp and Telegram, the Connect your own list in an agent's channels includes a range of messaging platforms. They all connect the same way: open the channel, paste the credentials that platform gives you, click Connect.
What you can do
Put your agent in the team chat you already use, or let it answer an email address, using accounts you own.
What's in the list
The list comes from the agent's workspace, so it can change over time. It typically includes:
| Channel | Typical use |
|---|---|
| Slack | Your team mentions the agent in a channel and it replies in the thread. |
| Discord | Same idea for a Discord server. |
| The agent reads and replies to a mailbox. | |
| Signal, Mattermost, Matrix, LINE, IRC | Other chat platforms. |
| SMS, Webhook, API server | For technical setups: text messages, or your own software talking to the agent. |
Each channel's panel has a short description and, where available, a Docs link to that platform's own setup guide. Follow that guide to create the credentials, then come back and paste them in.
Connect a channel
Open the agent's settings → channels. Under Connect your own, click the channel.
Read the description and open Docs if you need to create a bot or app on the other platform first.
Fill in the fields — a bot token, an app token, an API key, a mailbox login, depending on the platform. Rarely-needed fields sit under Advanced.
Click Connect. The row turns green with a dot when the channel is live. If the platform later reports a problem, a red … stopped notice appears with the reason.
Slack in particular
Slack appears in two places in Opereo, and they do different things:
- Channels → Slack (this page) lets your team talk to the agent inside Slack. You create a Slack app in your workspace and paste its tokens here.
- Integrations → Slack lets the agent act in Slack when you ask it in the app — post a summary to #sales, read a channel. You sign in with a click; no tokens. See Integrations.
Use whichever fits, or both.
Manage or disconnect
Click a connected channel to reopen it. Paste new credentials and Save, or Disconnect to stop the agent answering there. Disconnecting in Opereo doesn't delete the bot or app on the other platform.
Deliver automations to a channel
Any connected channel can be the Send to target of an automation, so the weekly numbers land in Slack without anyone asking.
